The cell is an integrated oscillator intended to run at between 4 - 256MHz (after calibration). A typical application would be for on-chip system clock. No external components are required. The cell features a Power Down Mode (PDM) in which the power consumption is very low. This makes the cell very suitable for portable and battery operated devices. The precision of the oscillation frequency is better than ±0.5% after calibration.
