CoolFlux DSP is a licensable embedded DSP core for ultra low power applications. Based on many years of experience in the design of ultra low power electronics, the core has been developed for portable audio applications, including audio encoding and decoding, sound enhancement algorithms, noise suppression. Targeted products include headsets, hearing devices and portable audio players. As CoolFlux DSP is a well balanced core w.r.t. low power, good performance and low gate count many embedded audio implementations can benefit from it. CoolFlux DSP has been designed from the ground up, together with a highly efficient ILP optimizing C compiler. The compiler can exploit all the parallelism in the core and generates very efficient code with up to 8 operations in parallel per cycle, both from a cycle and code density perspective. Compact 32 bit instructions as well as program memory compression techniques result in small memory footprints.
